We Train Dogs…and Their People!
Our Queens dog trainer prides herself on helping ALL dogs and building up an incredible success rate here in New York. There isn’t some great magical secret behind Excelsior Dog Training’s success other than an understanding of operant conditioning, canine behaviors and shaping, consistent boundaries, and the compassion for both dogs and their people. We apply reward-based techniques so that dogs learn how to succeed and strive to always do the right thing, as they understand that is what brings them all the fun, love, and rewards!
The Queens dog training programs are successful for a number of reasons, but one of the main things is that we are not only training dogs, but we are also training their people! We believe that if you truly want to progress and win in dog training, then the dog’s people have to be included in the training equation as well.
Dog training isn’t rocket science, but the reason why dogs trainers have a job in the first place is because people need additional help with communicating and handling their pups. Our Queens dog trainer not only works with dogs, but also works closely with owners, teaching them the necessary skills that helps their dog achieve behavioral balance. These skills last a lifetime and the owners have them for their dog’s entire life, and even for other possible dogs that might be adopted in the future!
While there are trainers that can take a dog from their home, enter them into their “school” and train them into a well-behaved dog, does it ultimately matter when the owner cannot fully maintain the training themselves upon the dog’s return home? This is one of the major issues that can come up in a Board and Train situation; even though trainers can provide follow-up instructions, all the great training that took place might not easily translate to the owner who was never part of it in the first place.
This is why we offer in-home training, as this keeps owners part of their dog’s progress and allows them to actually be RESPONSIBLE for this progress. This is such an uplifting feeling for dog owners, and their confidence levels boost up, while their dogs pick up on this and feel more confident themselves! When owners sign up for Excelsior Dog Training, they’re not just observing from their seats, but rather taking control in a hands-on fashion, and learning through experience how to communicate with their dog. This ensures lifelong success AND it helps cement the bond between owner and dog.
While training takes time, work and commitment, it doesn’t have to be a chore! It can be a fun thing for both dog and owner, and as a tool to bring the pair closer together. It builds leadership for the owner, and solid, consistent trust and respect from the dog. Training is a process, but with the right tools, the educated and committed owner, and the reward-based and commitment-based trainer…anything is possible!
